What?

The Boktai Hacking Wiki is a project to collect all technical data about the Boktai video game series, as well as romhacking resources and tools, romhacks themselves, patches, translations, and more. It was created to serve as the central and searchable place for this information.

Who?

This site was founded and is currently hosted by User:Raphi. Anyone can create and edit pages here - just create a free account by clicking on the "Create account" button in the menu in the top right.

Community

In addition to this Wiki, we have a dedicated IRC channel for discussing Boktai hacking in #boktaihacking on Libera Chat.

Content guidelines

Before creating a page, please make sure that the content you want to add falls into one of these broad categories.

Technical documentation of Boktai ROMs. Examples include (but are not limited to):
- ROM layout (e.g. locations of functions, their signatures, behaviour, etc.)
- RAM layout (e.g. variables, structs, arrays, ...)
- File formats used by the games
- File descriptions (what file is used where/contains what)
- Scripts (and their signatures, behaviour, etc.)
- General information about game mechanics (e.g. enemy stats, how RNG works, movement mechanics and frame data ...)
- Other data dumps (lists of maps, treasures, etc.)
- ...and more
Romhacking tools and resources. For example:
- Map editors
- Script editors
- Lua scripts for emulators
- ROM/RAM analysis tools/scripts
- Cartridge hardware documentation
- ...and more
Romhacks, patches, translations, and other game modifications.
- As long as it's a modification of a Boktai game, it's allowed.
- Only upload patches, not the final patched ROMs!

Prohibited content

Only upload a file if you have permission to do so from its author.
Do not upload or link to ROMs (.gba files).
Only upload content relevant for romhack creators and players. That means no game walkthroughs and no lore.
